Sandra Peter - Musical Director
Originally from Denver, CO, Sandra Peter served in the 7th Army Band
and
Chorus in Heidelberg, Germany, after which she earned her BA in Music
from
San Diego State. Sandra has also been a member of the San Diego
Symphony
Chorus, Bach Chorale in Munich, Germany, San Francisco Symphony Chorus,
Festival Opera Chorus of Walnut Creek, and has been with the Oakland
Jazz
Choir since 2000. She has been directing the John Muir
Chorus in Walnut Creek since 2003, and once the Assistant Director for the
Oakland
Jazz Choir, now directs that
organization also. Sandra has studied voice since 1990, and continues to
study as
well as teach voice and music theory privately part-time, in addition
to her
full-time job in telecommunications.
Mary D’Orazi – Managing Director
An Oakland native, Mary D’Orazi has been a vocalist with OJC since 1996. From 1999 to 2004 she was Program Manager for Rhythmic Concepts, Inc., which produces Jazz Camp West and was the parent organization of OJC until 2005. Her current position with OJC “fell into her lap” out of necessity and because of her prior experience with administration, concert production and booking for the choir. Mary also produces a jazz series in Oakland called Jazz at the Chimes and works as Marketing and Communications Associate for the Lifemark Group.
